Let’s rethink our water future together
Across the Mount Lofty Ranges, water resources are under pressure. Reviews in 2023–24 found that our current Water Allocation Plans are no longer suited to the region's changing conditions. To secure our future, we need to rethink how we use, protect and share our water resources.
We are calling on people across the region to join a 'Catchment Conversation' and share their views, ask questions, provide local knowledge and help shape future policy directions.
Why these conversations matter
These sessions are designed to help us understand what matters most to you and the community. They create a space where people can talk openly about water, its pressures and its future. Through these conversations we aim to:
- Hear what you think about local water issues
- Understand how water challenges differ across catchments
- Share surface water, groundwater and ecology insights from the Department of Environment and Water Science Teams
- Elevate Indigenous knowledge, values and perspectives
- Be upfront about the trade-offs and choices ahead
- Bring community insight into the early stages of Water Allocation Plan amendments
The science is progressing and these conversations can influence the options we test and the pathways we consider.
