Who is responsible for roadside weeds? It’s a question our team receives often, so let’s clear it up!
Under the Landscape South Australia Act 2019, landholders have a legal responsibility to manage declared weeds on their properties - however, when it comes to roadsides, there’s a little more to it.
Landscapes Hills and Fleurieu prioritises control of certain new and emerging weeds on roadsides. But with 10,000 km of roadsides and 150 declared weed species in the region, we can’t get them all at once.
If you have a declared weed on your roadside, it’s important to make efforts to control it. The best approach in this case is to obtain permission from your local council (via the relevant permit), for you or your contractor to manage it.
