Weed Alert: Caltrop

Thanks to the keen eyes of a local dog walker, two small roadside populations of caltrop (Tribulus terrestris) were recently discovered in Houghton and controlled.

There are very few records of caltrop in the Hills and Fleurieu region, and with your help we would like to keep it that way. Please report any sightings of this prickly plant by phoning our office on 8391 7500 or report on the below form for control and future monitoring.

Caltrop grows over summer, producing sharp spiny burrs that are spread readily after piercing tyres, shoes, and dog paws!
